"I love the house, it’s warm, light and inviting. I’m much more in touch with the outside than ever before and it has changed my whole perspective on life" Simon
"Living here lifts the spirits… There’s even more light and space than we had before and better lighting and a better outlook too. As soon as I come up the drive I think “wow" and so do many visitors." Name not provided
"The room is beautiful – you can see all around and feel you’re part of the environment. It’s very inspiring. We’ve had the space to put in what’s important to us such as music and art, but the main thing is you can see nature and the orchard. It’s the new heart of our home and it’s always wonderful to be in here, always." Susanna
"Every morning, you come down and you think, ‘This is lovely’. We are very happy to be here." Simon
"There will be a community use of the building and that’s exciting. I have lots of people who will come through the building and enjoy it. It is life-giving to me." Name not provided
"[The extension] has changed our lives in terms of how we can entertain people and how we can interact as a family." Name not provided
"We had several meetings and after every meeting we felt we’d taken great steps forward in creating something that was unique to us." Name not provided
"We used Communion for Stage Three and the project management of the build. We were glad we did because it helped keep everything on price when there were inevitable changes and things we hadn’t thought about or expected. Having Alex there kept everything on track." Name not provided
"[The house] makes me smile every time I drive up the drive." Name not provided
"Budget-wise I couldn’t be happier because we came in slightly under. We changed some of the things we were going to do according to the original plans and we added the huge expense of reconcreting the yard, but because we’d taken other things out, with the help of the builder and Alex and Lucy, we came in under." Name not provided
"Imaginative design which remains sympathetic to an old building. Good communication during the process, including from other staff members. Wealth of knowledge regarding specialist contractors and service providers" James
"Regular progress updates to keep the client informed and involved. Designs that are both creative and practical." Name not provided
"Alex (& the team) are very calm, have a great perspective that comes, at least in part, from his experience & what ever 'wobbles' are going on client end he always returns calls and offers solutions too. Which in turn instills confidence in the Communion team and the project itself." Name not provided
"I can only say how pleased I have been. You explained the process and the results in a clear way the I could follow. I did not feel you were simplifying things because I was a novice or teaching me to suck eggs. You always followed up and delivered exactly as you had said you would and, we got the result we wanted." Adrian Williams
"You handled the whole project to my complete satisfaction, organising the relevant consultants thereby taking any worries and responsibilities away from ourselves. Communications were excellent and we was kept updated every step of the process. Without your guidance we would never have thought to apply for planning on the second modern barn." Name not provided
"I had never used an architect before and the process of choosing professionals can be a mine field without prior knowledge and experience. Communion was actually recommended to me by the Church Commission and this seemed a good start. The recommendation proved to be perfect and delivered everything I could have wished for. I don't think there is much more I can add, Communion delivered the service that I hoped it would and much more." Name not provided
"I have enjoyed and appreciated working with Communion. As a company they were extremely sensitive to our vision, attentive to design detail and always easy to work with. I can completely recommend them without reservation." Rev S Lockett
"A visionary project to provide high quality catering, toilet and storage facilities concealed in freestanding oak boxes also included under floor heating, making this once draughty building warm and welcoming at all times and for everyone – including worshippers." Name not provided
"Thank you for everything you and your team did to make the project such a success and giving our building the "Wow" factor" Sue Hubbard
"I found Alex to be approachable and I liked the personal touch which was great as going with a bigger practice my little barn would have got lost. Similarly responding to queries and problems I found you to be responsive and quick to react." Name not provided
"After we had the work finished My daughter came back from university and said that this was the kind of house that other people lived in !" Name not provided
"One of the things that was great about working with Communion was that if suddenly something occurred to us that we needed to incorporate into the design as it developed it was never too much trouble and we were never made to feel like it was a problem. They were flexible, responsive and respectful to our needs. The design felt like a very two-way process and a real partnership." Name not provided
"Alex is an incredibly modern and insightful architect but he has also studied conservation architecture. He breathes life into historic buildings – he is the only person I would have trusted with this work." Name not provided
"We found you really easy to work with, very ‘user-friendly’, and the process felt like a genuine partnership. You listened to our thoughts, ideas and wishes and converted them into a workable and professional plan for a way forward." Name not provided
"There’s just so much space and light now. The communal area serves different purposes with a TV area and a kitchen. It means even though someone might be watching TV you can still have conversations together. There’s also still the lounge which we can use as a quiet area. There’s a lot more space to store the kids’ stuff and when they have friends round the space works so much better. We’re living together in a different way." Name not provided
"My office is at the front of the building and I’ve got a lovely big apex window looking out, so I can watch the children, see who’s coming and going and see what’s going on." Name not provided
"The reason we love this space so much is because it’s changed the way we live. We’re using the extension as a family space where we can be cooking, talking, reading books and we’re far more sociable as a family now." Name not provided
